No doubt Messi the god was on beast mode. And truly he desrved potentially a hattrick, as his second goal looked legitimate from all angles and was endorsed by our own Matildas on Optus Sports. However, these matches need to put a crown on those players who don't usually get enough credit for silently putting in the right foot and the right interception time and time again. One odd mistake and they are spat at. These are the defenders. Lenglet today was absolutely a joy to watch. He scored the first goal and set the preface to the script. Without that goal, which was a bit against the tide of the game, who knows - if it would have been easy for Barcelona or not. In defence, where he is really needed, he made perfect and much needed interceptions time and again. Also, he was always one of the smart ones back there to play the clearance when it looked the obvious choice rather than going about the suicidal tiki taka around the penalty area, which was in many case not warranted at all today.
